Trust Services

First National Bank’s Trust Services department offers a personalized and confidential approach to helping our customers achieve their financial objectives. We accomplish this by providing trusted advice in the areas of personal trust, investment management, and estate and financial planning. We offer a full range of trust products and services that are designed to meet the varying needs of our customers. These products and services include:

Estate Planning and Settlement Services - Estate planning is a process of planning for the disbursement of an estate according to the goals of the estate owner. First National Bank can help you create and implement your estate plan as well as serving as your Executor or Personal Representative in order to ensure that your wishes are carried out under the provisions of your will. An effective estate plan will meet your personal objectives of transferring your estate while minimizing the impact of taxes and other expenses. Let First National Bank’s years of estate planning and administration experience go to work for you and your family.

Trust Administration Services - There are a variety of trusts available; each designed to satisfy a specific need. Trusts can be created during the owner’s lifetime (Living Trusts) or after death under the terms of the owners Last Will & Testament (Testamentary Trusts). They may be established for a number of reasons, including financial management for the owner when he/she can no longer do so, for children until they reach an appropriate age or for charitable purposes. A trustee can be anyone – yourself, a family member or even a trusted friend. However, serving as trustee may impose a burden on both time and emotions. Choosing First National Bank to serve as corporate trustee may be a better solution. We are specialists in handling trusts, and will be impartial and not be affected by emotions or the conflicts of interest often experienced within a family.

First National Bank is experienced in the administration of many different types of trusts, including:

  • Living Trusts
  • Trusts Under Will
  • Charitable Trusts
  • Irrevocable Life Insurance Trusts
  • Trust for children
  • Special Needs Trust

Investment Management Services - First National Bank’s Trust Services department can help you manage, build and preserve the wealth you have worked so hard to create. Whether you make your own investment decisions or utilize outside money managers, First National Bank can provide assistance with tracking your portfolio’s market value, acquisition cost and transaction activity. We can also provide additional services such as bill payment and record keeping.

Managed or Self-Directed IRA’s - When a client establishes a self-directed Traditional, Roth or Educational IRA with the Trust Services department, the client directs the Investments and First National Bank holds the assets, performs all transactions, records all income, makes distributions, keeps the plan in compliance, and completes the required IRS reporting. If a client does not want to make investment decisions in their IRA, then First National Bank can provide Investment Management Services to handle the ongoing management of their IRA assets.

Conservatorships - As conservator, First National Bank’s Trust Services department manages the assets of a person who is unable to handle their own financial affairs. Family members may rest assured that all assets are being professionally managed, all bills are paid on time, and all tax returns are promptly filed. The bank also prepares annual reports to the beneficiary and the court.

The most important step in a successful estate plan is to work with professionals who truly care about you and your family. When you choose First National Bank for your Trust and Investment needs, you will receive trusted advice and personalized, confidential service. However, the most important benefit of working with First National Bank Trust Services is having the peace of mind knowing that we are here to serve your trust, estate and investment needs now and for years to come.
